&Wholism Movement: True health, greater than the sum of its parts

with Tieraona Low Dog, M.D.

For the past 100 years or so, our focus has been to break everything down – to simplify and classify – in an attempt to understand and control our world.LD-205-1.jpg

This approach has led to some amazing discoveries. We’ve identified the atom and discovered that the double helix structure of DNA is the building block of life. We’ve mapped out the secrets of the human genome and developed the ability to peer inside the body and see what’s happening on a molecular level. These enormous technological leaps could not have happened without embracing reductionist thinking. And without a doubt, reductionism has benefited our health.
But there can be drawbacks to taking things apart. Something happens when we try to reduce large, dynamically complex systems down to their smallest, constituent parts.

We can lose our sense of the whole.

Join Tieraona Low Dog, M.D. for the momentous first step of the &WHOLISM movement. This talk will explore the strengths and limitations of reductionism, and the powerful benefits that can result when practitioners find deeper points of connection…between our habits and our health… between our bodies and the plants… between ourselves and others…between humanity and the planet.

Webinar Objectives:

  1. Participants will be able to understand key contributions of reductionism to modern health.
  2. Participants will be able to identify three unintended consequences of reductionism to human and planetary health.
  3. Participants will be able to describe three benefits of incorporating a broader, wholistic approach to their practice.
